About New Dawne
Hope & Excellence
Our Story
New Dawne was born from a simple yet powerful belief: every sunrise brings a new opportunity. Founded by Angela Trenton-Mbonde, former UNAIDS Country Director for Ghana, this organization emerged from three decades of global health leadership and a profound shift in perspective. After years of crafting policies and building programs that reached millions worldwide, from AIDS prevention to youth advocacy, Angela stepped away from the international stage in 2022. In that quieter space, a deeper question took root: "What really changes when you sit with people, listen to their stories, and walk beside them as they rebuild their lives?" That question sparked New Dawne, a grassroots organization dedicated to supporting women and girls overlooked by traditional systems. We focus on those who have dropped out of school, survived violence and sexual abuse, struggle to make ends meet, or exchange sex for survival in Ghana and Guyana. New Dawne is more than a support system; it's a transformative journey from survival to self-sufficiency. We believe in restoring the dignity these women and girls thought they had lost and rekindling their sense of self-worth and purpose. Through mentorship, vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and behavioral coaching, we provide the tools and mindset necessary for genuine transformation. Because every woman and girl deserves the dawn of a new beginning!
